Credit Limits
The amount of CPL that can be awarded varies by program type:

Cost
A fee equivalent to 20% of the course tuition is required for each CPL request and must be paid before the evaluation begins. If a request is denied, the fee may be applied to future tuition.

You must be in Academic Good Standing. Submit requests as early as possible.

| Step 1 |
Submit Your RequestComplete the CPL Request Form (below) and include a written statement and initial (readily available) supporting documentation. Requests are not reviewed until the fee is paid and you are officially enrolled in your program. |
| Step 2 |
Preliminary Review by ProgramYour program reviews your request to determine if it will move forward. You will be notified of this decision by the Registrar's Office within two weeks of receipt of a complete request. If not approved at this stage, your request is closed. |
| Step 3 |
Submit Required EvidenceIf your request moves forward, you will receive instructions on the evaluation method(s), required materials, criteria, and deadline (typically two weeks). Submit all requested materials by the deadline. If not received in time, the Registrar's Office will notify you that your request is closed. |
| Step 4 |
Full Evaluation by ProgramYour program evaluates the materials using the approved method and criteria and decides whether to award academic credit. The program sends their recommendation to the Registrar's Office. |
| Step 5 |
Administrative Approvals & Final DecisionThe request is reviewed for approval by the College. The Registrar's Office notifies you of the final decision and updates your academic record and schedule, if applicable. |
- Only credit units are awarded. Approved courses are marked as Credit Earned (CE) and do not affect your GPA.
- CPL is awarded for full courses only (no partial credit). CPL cannot be applied to previously failed courses.
- CPL cannot be combined with transfer credit for the same course.
