Learning Objectives
Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate medical knowledge about mental and behavioral health problems to include pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, patient management, health promotion and disease prevention, and application of this knowledge to patient care.
- Perform focused history & physical examinations on patients with behavioral and mental health problems. Generate and document thorough assessments & plans from the perspective of behavioral and mental health care.
- Appropriately perform and document comprehensive mental status assessments in accordance with guidelines in the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
- Considering the complexity of behavioral and mental health, demonstrate proficiency and adaptability in knowledge, interpersonal, clinical, and technical skills, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities pertaining to the management of behavioral and mental health care.
- Proper documentation of performance of all patient assessments, management plans, & patient education for mental and behavioral health problems.
Emergency Medicine

Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate medical knowledge about select health problems to include pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, patient management, health promotion, and disease prevention, and application of this knowledge to patient care in an emergency medicine setting.
- Perform focused history & physical examinations on patients seeking emergent medical care. Generate and document thorough assessments & plans from the perspective of practicing emergency medicine.
- Utilize the medical literature to evaluate whether a current emergency medicine practice protocol is evidence-based and determine if the protocol should be continued, modified, or revised entirely.
- Considering the breadth and depth of emergency medicine, demonstrate proficiency and adaptability in knowledge, interpersonal, clinical and technical skills, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities for patients seeking emergent medical care.
- Proper documentation of performance of all patient assessments, management plans, & patient education for acute health problems seen in an emergency medicine setting.
Family Medicine
Learning Objectives
Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate medical knowledge about select health problems to include pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, patient management, health promotion and disease prevention, and application of this knowledge to patient care in a family practice outpatient setting as it pertains to pediatrics, adult, and geriatric populations with acute, chronic and preventive concerns.
- Perform focused history & physical examinations on patients seeking care in the primary care setting, including pediatric, adult and 
geriatric patients with acute, chronic and preventive concerns. Generate and document thorough assessments & plans as it pertains to 
pediatrics, adult, and geriatri populations.
- Use evidence-based practice principles to answer clinical questions related to current disease management for conditions commonly 
encountered in the primary care setting as it pertains to pediatrics, adult, and geriatric populations.

- Considering the breadth and depth of primary care medicine, demonstrate proficiency and adaptability in knowledge, interpersonal, 
clinical and technical skills, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities for adult and geriatric patients. 
(care for the pediatric patient is further assessed in the pediatric rotations).

an outpatient setting for all age groups.
General Surgery
Learning Objectives
Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate medical knowledge about select health problems that include the pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, patient management, health promotion, and disease prevention, and application of this knowledge to surgical care, specifically to include preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
- Perform focused history & physical examinations on patients during preoperative and postoperative encounters. Generate and document thorough assessments & plans from the perspective of surgical management, specifically to include preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
- Use evidence-based practice principles to answer clinical questions related to current disease management for conditions commonly encountered in the primary care setting as it pertains to pediatrics, adult, and geriatric populations.Ìý
- With regards to intraoperative care, competently demonstrate surgical skills to include aseptic technique, scrubbing, gowning, gloving, surgical assisting, wound closure, and operating room etiquette.
- Considering the complexity of surgical care, demonstrate proficiency and adaptability in knowledge, interpersonal, clinical, and technical skills, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities pertaining to surgical management.
- Proper documentation of all patient assessments, management plans & patient education for encounters with patients managed in the surgical setting, specifically to include preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
Internal Medicine

- Use evidence-based practice principles to answer clinical questions related to current therapy for acute and chronic health conditions as it pertains to adult and geriatric care.
- Considering the breadth and depth of internal medicine, demonstrate proficiency and adaptability in knowledge, interpersonal, clinical and technical skills, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities for adults and geriatric patients seeking chronic care.
- Proper documentation of performance of all patient assessments, management plans, & patient education for chronic health problems seen in adult and geriatric medicine.
Pediatrics

 plans from the perspective of practicing pediatric medicine. Use evidence-based practice methods to compare the workings of the case 
to the standard of care.
- Demonstrate competency in patient interviewing, physical examination, diagnostic and therapeutic technical skills, diagnosis formulation, clinical intervention, health maintenance, and cross-cultural skills.
- Considering the differences between infants, children, and adolescents, demonstrate proficiency and adaptability in knowledge, 
 interpersonal, clinical, and technical skills, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities for each age group.

Women's Health
